About Model Risk Directory

A procurement-grade reference that helps model risk, quantitative, and internal audit teams source and vet independent model validation firms, and understand the named regulatory guidance their programs are actually examined against.

Most model risk management content still treats SR 11-7 (2011) as the current word on the subject. It was superseded on April 17, 2026 by the interagency guidance SR 26-2 and OCC Bulletin 2026-13, jointly issued by the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC. Model Risk Directory exists to fix that gap: it organizes real, named regulatory guidance, current and historical, into buyer guides, turns each service category into a plain checklist of what to verify and what to ask, then routes real sourcing requests toward qualified firms.

Alongside the sourcing layer, we maintain a sourced reference to notable real advisory firms and MRM governance software vendors active in the space, so the vocabulary and the landscape are one click away.

Not AI governance

Model risk management is an older, distinct financial-regulatory discipline: independent validation and governance of the quantitative and statistical models banks use for credit risk, trading, pricing, and capital, going back to SR 11-7 (2011). It is not the same subject as AI/LLM governance, which our sibling site Model Governance Index covers. We keep the two separate on purpose.

Who runs it

Model Risk Directory is published by KG LLC. It is procurement support and buyer education, not a compliance consultant, not a vendor employer, and not a ranking of any vendor. Contact us at hello@modelriskdirectory.com.
